Augmented Reality for Automotive Innovation

Hands-On with the Future of Electric Vehicles

At The Battery Show, TE Connectivity (formerly Tyco Electronics) needed to make complex technology instantly accessible—and memorable—for trade show attendees. Working with the agency team who designed the booth, our challenge was to turn TE’s EV integration story into an interactive, immersive experience that would stand out on the show floor.



Project Objective & Our Role

Objective:
Demonstrate how TE Connectivity’s parts and systems power the future of electric vehicles, using technology that draws people in and keeps them exploring.

Our Role:
We worked hand-in-hand with the booth’s advertising/design agency to:
• Develop all content for the booth’s AV displays
• Design, program, and deploy an augmented reality application for Android tablets, serving as the booth’s central demo tool
• Provide on-site support and calibration during the event, ensuring everything worked seamlessly for staff and guests alike



Key Innovations & Experience
• Custom AR Application:
The centerpiece of the booth was an interactive AR experience on Android tablets. Attendees could explore four unique automotive “scenes,” each highlighting how TE’s components fit into electric vehicle systems in real-world environments.
• Interactive Hotspots & Deep Dives:
Each scene featured touch-enabled hotspots—tap a product area and a detailed overlay appears, revealing specs, benefits, and integration stories. This allowed for tailored conversations, whether visitors were casual passersby or industry insiders.
• Multi-Scene Navigation:
Visitors could easily switch between vehicle environments, seeing how TE’s solutions adapt across models and use cases. The fluid interface made technical education feel intuitive and even fun.
• On-Site Integration & Calibration:
Our team was on the ground before and during the show, calibrating devices and providing turnkey support. This took the stress off TE’s product managers and booth staff, letting them focus on customer interaction and sales rather than troubleshooting tech.



Challenges & Creative Solutions
• Complex Content, Simple Interface:
Making technical information accessible for all visitors required close collaboration with TE’s product experts and creative iteration to keep the AR scenes user-friendly and visually appealing.
• Flawless On-Site Performance:
To guarantee a smooth demo experience, we fine-tuned and calibrated the AR tablets in the actual booth environment—minimizing variables and ensuring everything was “show ready” from day one.
• Agency Collaboration:
Working alongside the advertising/design agency, we made sure the AR experience was perfectly aligned with the booth’s brand, look, and goals.



Results & Impact

The AR application became a highlight of The Battery Show booth, consistently drawing crowds and enabling deeper, more engaging conversations.
